Bonjour!
I'm Claire Curtice. I teach French classes. Young people, French language and culture and marriage and family are my three passions in life.
As a French teacher, my goal is to create in young people the ability to communicate in French in a variety of situations. I teach French using the natural approach moving from listening to speaking followed by reading and writing. Each level focuses on all four skills but levels three and four require more extensive reading and writing preparing the students for the International Baccalaureate exam. Grammar and vocabulary topics are chosen to reduce the risk of miscommunication and provide information for the students as their need to know develops. Cultural sensitivity is developed by comparing and contrasting American culture to the culture of worldwide French speaking countries and regions of Europe, Western Africa, North and South America, the Caribbean, Southeast Asia, and the Pacific. Our French Club provides cultural opportunities in music, art, ballet, opera,3-D re-creation of geogaphic locations, and social gatherings.
Teaching at Leander High School since 1985, I love the opprtunity to share my heritage and my career.
