In LISD, students and staff work collaboratively to ensure student ownership of learning in a supportive environment.
  • Students and teachers collaborate to establish procedures and expectations for an ideal learning environment such as class purpose and social contracts.
  • Teachers work with students to establish standards for quality work expressed in terms students understand.
  • Students self and peer assess to determine where they are, where they need to go and what they need to do to get there.
  • Students Collaborate to help each other learn.
  • Students use tools such as plus/deltas or learning and enthusiasm graphs to determine better ways to help students learn.
  • Students use tools/ graphic organizers/ PDSAs to increase learning.
  • Students set goals, share and celebrate their learning.
