Math
Math instruction takes on a variety of forms. But above all it is an interactive learning and questioning process. Students are encouraged to solve problems in a variety of ways. Whole group instructions is one of many ways math is taught.
Learning Games or Explorations
Learning Games and the math exploration activities allow students the opporthunity to repeatedly play a game or explore a math concept as many times as the student needs. These games can be played independently or in a small group. Repeating an activity allows times to reinforce a concept until the individual child completely understands the concept.
Guided Math
Guided math is planned instruction to meet individual or small group needs. This can include enrichment or time to revisit a skill not yet mastered.
Problem Solving
Students are offered an array of mathematical problems and are encouraged to use an assortment of math tools to assist them in developing a variety of stategies to solve math problems. Students are encouraged to share with one another their thought processes that they used to solve the problem.
