Welcome to first grade. I am enthusiastic about the upcoming year and anticipate it to be an exciting and rewarding time in your child’s life. My commitment to you is to provide a safe and loving environment in which your child will grow and learn.

My first goal in the classroom is to create a learning community in which each and every child feels safe, welcomed, and important. For the first few weeks we will be working on building this community and really getting to know each other. I want the children to know that this is our classroom, together.

Every Wednesday, all completed work and school announcements will be sent home. There will also be a daily folder that will consist of a calendar, behavior updates, and a reading log (for when we start small group reading). Feel free to use this folder as an open communication source. My door is always open and I encourage you to be involved in your child’s education.

I think it’s important to mention a little something about myself. My husband and I have lived in Cedar Park for seven years and truly enjoy our community. My husband teaches mathematics at Vista Ridge High School. We have two beautiful children that we just can’t get enough of! Lucas is four and Megan is two. I graduated from Texas State University. This is my first year at Rutledge Elementary, although, this will be my sixth year teaching first grade. My first home away from home was spent at Whitestone Elementary. I had a fantastic five years there. I now devote my loyalty and commitment to the children, parents, and faculty of Rutledge Elementary. I am excited and feel very fortunate to be part of this wonderful school.
