Juniors are COOL!
English III Curriculum Overview
This is a general plan of what we hope to accomplish this year. It is flexible and may change to reflect the necessary adjustment, but overall it reflects the areas of study we will be attempting.
Rules and Expectations
This is the handout the students receive when they first come to my class. Note that it should be signed and returned. This is part of a homework grade that carries over from one six weeks to the next.
Daily Class Record
This handout will be filled out each week and turned in for a weekly quiz grade. The top part, where the assignment is written, is copied from the board. The Reflection/Metacognition Row and the Competencies Row are higher level thinking areas where the student must explain to me not only what he/she did that day but how he/she did it. This is particularly important when we are learning to use a new skill or reviewing old skills. In addition to observing the student using the skill, if the student is able to explain to me in writing how to carry out a task or perform a skill, then I know he/she has really learned this skill.
Journal Writing
Journal writing will be done each class day and on the week days in between as well. The downloaded calendar shows the topics to be written on. The calendar will be updated for the 6th six weeks.
Unzipped Poetry Unit
The downloaded file explains the project, the objectives, and the requirements for each part. It is important that the students complete each.
To also help with the poetry project, I have included a poetry terms handout and a poetry analysis handout. They can be downloaded using the buttons below:
The Works Cited Page
To help with the Works Cited Page, I have included this Powerpoint about Works Cited pages. You can also find help in the Senior Project online handbook.
Transferring Web Pages
The following handout tells how to transfer your web pages to the K Drive
