Music for Life
Hey, Titans and Titan fans! Welcome to the River Place Elementary music class where we are making “Music for Life”. At River Place Elementary, we believe that “every child is inherently musical and has the potential for musical growth. [Children] do not question whether they are musical but naturally employ the human language of music”. Therefore, the music class is designed to foster lifelong appreciation of music through active music making.

With that goal in mind, your child will receive music instruction designed to help him/her develop musical skills and understanding using music of various styles and cultures. These songs will be used to teach singing, steady beat/rhythm, note reading and expression. Your student will also be provided opportunities to play various classroom instruments, to create music of her/his own, and to listen to music that ranges from “popular” to multicultural to “classical”. All this will be taught from a theme-based approach including seasons, celebrations, friendship, and animals to name just a few.

The students of River Place Elementary will be given performance opportunities through grade-level performances for 2nd and 3rd graders. And, 4th and 5th graders are invited to join the Titan Choir. You will be invited to attend or volunteer to assist with these performances. Your participation and/or support of these performances will reinforce and encourage your child’s musical education and make music more meaningful at school, at home, and in the community.

We look forward to working together to make “Music for Life”!
