I feel real fortunate and blessed to be a part of the Leander ISD family here in my second year at Naumann Elementary. In my 12 years of teaching experience I look forward to the new challenges that come with the new school year.
My background stems back to the small northeast Texas town of Daingerfield, Texas pop. 2,500 (the 5th oldest town in Texas) where after I graduated I received my Associates degree from Northeast Texas Community College in Mt. Pleasant. After graduating from Stephen F. Austin State University with a BA in communications (Radio & TV) with a minor in History, I went to work at KLTV Channel 7 in Tyler, Texas.
It was after I did some substitute teaching at South Elementary in the Daingerfield-Lone Star ISD that I decided to return to school for my teacher certification at East Texas State University - Texarkana. I moved to Houston where I was a substitute teacher in the Spring and Klein ISD for a year. I would then spend the next 10 years teaching 4th grade math, science, and social studies at Krahn Elementary in Klein.
The Austin area has always been good to my family, as my father's side has been here since the 1930s branding 3 generations of proud Longhorns from the University of Texas (Hook'em) My wife and I look forward to starting the next generation of the Sanders' family here for many years to come.
