Precision Machining is essential to each individual’s existence and to the nation’s well-being. The transforming of raw materials into goods, products, and services that are necessary to maintain high standards of healthful living, economic stability, and national security depends on machining technology.
The objective of this series of courses ( Precision Machining I, and Precision Machining II) is to provide each student with a basic understanding of this process. The students will gain an understanding of these operations using the following machine tools Lathe, Milling Machines, Drill Presses, Grinding Machines (ID / OD and Surface) and CNC Milling Machine. The student at each level must master a varying combination of skills and accompanying technical knowledge. In each instance, the skills and knowledge are interdependent. They combine the “why-to-do” technology with the “how-to-do” manipulation of tools, machines, instruments, and materials. Equally important is the dependency of these skills on the student’s ability to relate them to mathematics, physical science, blueprint reading and drafting and design principles.
