Silent Majority Television Special
A recent survey in the Round Rock Independent School District found that 70 percent of middle school students here say they have been the victim of bullying. But an even larger group, made up of 88 percent of teenagers nationwide, reports WITNESSING bullying as it happens to somebody else, usually at school. This is the vast majority of students, and collectively, experts say, they have the power to stop bullying in every school in America. According to an official with the U.S. Department of Education, students in this “silent majority” are the key to changing the harmful climate of bullying in our schools. The good news is that in Round Rock, Texas, and around the nation, there are innovative people and experimental programs discovering ways to do just that. These true stories are profiled in the television special, Silent Majority:
Survival Guide
Welcome to Canyon Ridge Middle School! One of our campus goals is to deliver a strong academic program to benefit your child educationally. A second and equally important goal is to provide a safe and secure environment where emotional maturity can develop.

We are pleased to have you as a partner in this educational process and encourage you to be an active participant in the school. Our hope is that you will feel at home at Canyon Ridge. We are here to assist you in any way we can, and we hope this guide serves as an effective tool for your middle school years.
Mentor Information
Canyon Ridge Middle School is looking for mentors from the community who will spend 1 hour per week with a student.

Mentors and students participate in an extensive array of activities such as: reading a book together, arts and crafts, assisting with academics, shooting basket, eating lunch together, or simply taking a walk around the school grounds.

The mentor’s role is both a friend to his/her mentee as well as a critical source of support and guidance during the student's middle school years. Before being matched with a student, all mentors must complete an application, which is available at www.leanderisd.org and submit to a criminal background check.

LISD will provide a mentor training in the Steiner/ River Place community at a time convenient to you. We are looking for dedicated people who want to make a difference to a child. Download the document below and please fill out the mentor form located in our "Forms" section.
Bridges Information
Choices Explorer is an online program that helps your child explore a wide variety of career options and make plans to achieve his or her goals -- from school or from home!

During the year, students will create a profile in which to access their portfolio. This program will allow students to continue exploration throughout high school.

Students, who created profiles during the 2006-2007 school year, may access their portfolio by following the form from the download below.
Course Catalogs
The decisions you make regarding course selections for the coming school year are some of the most important you will make this spring. This handbook has been prepared in order to help you make meaningful choices. The following information is included: promotion requirements, course offerings, pre-requisites, and course descriptions. Please use the information provided in this catalogue to make appropriate choices for you.

If you have additional questions, ask your teacher or counselor. Changes in course selections must remain minimal, so that planning for the next school year can be accomplished efficiently.

We welcome you to Canyon Ridge Middle School and look forward to an exciting year ahead.
