Getting to Know Your QUEST Teacher
Wecome Back Everyone to the Blockhouse Creek Elementary QUEST program. I am delighted to be here and want to thank you all for sharing your students with me each day. I have taught in the LeanderISD for twelve years, teaching 3rd & 4th grade for most of those years. I have three children of my own. My husband & I live in the country so that he can raise rabbits (about 7 of them at last count, anybody want to buy a rabbit?) and pursue his woodworking business. Your student will hear me talk about two of my hobbies that consume most of my leisure time; gardening with native TX plants and weaving baskets of all size and shape. In QUEST, your student will learn how to use the Creative Thinking skills of Fluency, Flexibility, Orginality, and Elaboration in thier projects. They will also learn what how to use the Critical Thinking skills from Bloom's Taxonomy in their daily life. Stop in to say hello or come observe your children working in their Quest classroom. If you need to talk to me, please make an appointment by calling the school's office at 434-7150. My classroom phone extension 33347. I'm looking forward to meeting all of you.
Send me an email, I'd love to hear from you.
QUEST Screening at BHC
quest:(n) the act of seeking pursuing something; a search

The QUEST program is set up as an enrichment to learning. In the QUEST classroom, students learn and use tools that help them research ideas and topics. All students new to the district are screened for QUEST at the beginning of the year. Every kindergarten student is screened in the second semester.

Fall '07 Screening Period begins Aug. 28 and ends on Sept. 16th.
The next screening period will begin in early May. The QUEST Screening/Placement Committee will continue to evaluate Parent Referrals and Outstanding Student Product Portfolios only for students who are currently being considered for placement (with the exception of students transferring in from another district who were previously identified gifted). While nomination is an ongoing process, Parent Surveys and Outstanding Student Product Portfolios on newly nominated students will not be acted upon by the Committee until spring.
Thank you for following this process.
