This year we are going learn like leading disco artists dance and sing! We are out to create and embrace our learning like never before. Students will encounter success in their learning through where they have been, where they are going and how they are getting there. The most exciting part for me as a teacher is that it is my pleasure to choreograph the dance and direct them there!
Teaching is my favorite dance move! My first year of teaching was spent in a few different schools through my student teaching at the University of Texas (Hook ‘Em........had to say it!) It was through a reading program under Dr. Guszak that I uncovered a passion I did not know was there........ teaching children to read. I truly believe that reading is the doorway to knowledge and being apart of that is like nothing else. I taught fourth grade in Del Valle School District for one year. I then moved to Dallas and taught fourth grade in Plano School district for two years. Last year was my first year in second grade and it could not have been more rewarding! Every year has been different and allowed my students and I to treasure and try new ideas.
Outside of school I enjoy many things this world has to offer! Peacocks, coffee, running Town Lake, laughing, friends, volunteer work, dancing , my family, chips & hot sauce, art, learning, spinning under the Zilker Christmas tree, cooking, wildflowers in the spring, Blue Bell ice cream, music, one finger waves and reading about my life long hero “Pippi Longstockings”. The list could keep going and is ever changing so I will leave it at that.
I love to send all of my students home everyday knowing they did something exceptional that day. Each student has experiences, opinions and thoughts that will add greatly to the dynamics of our classroom. The environment in which I will help to create is one that is positive, productive, energetic and most of all accepting. The energy that every student brings is sure to add a splash of uniqueness and a twist of unforgettableness to their second grade year!
