Reading in Leander ISD
In LISD, reading is viewed as an integral part of a balanced literacy program where reading and writing are complementary processes.

The 5 core components of reading instruction are
*phonemic awareness
*phonics
*vocabulary
*comprehension
*fluency

These components are delivered through interactive read alouds, shared reading, guided reading/small group instruction, and independent reading.
