    EL Civics Program
English is the doorway to the future
Leander I.S.D. EL Civics Program
The Leander ISD EL Civics program offers English literacy and civics education (English as a Second Language classes)to all parents of Leander school children. Space is limited. Priority will be given to parents whose children are served through the ESL or bilingual programs. There is no cost for classes and childcare is provided. Our goal is to help every adult English learner obtain the necessary basic skills to be able to advance in the workplace, participate in the community, and to strengthen family and school life. The EL Civics Program has 4 adult ESL teachers. In the 2006-2007 school year, 88 adult learners received 4,400 hours of English language and Civics instruction. During the 2007-2008 school year, classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. at Bagdad Elementary. Students must attend an orientation in order to enroll in classes. Please call Emily at 435-4608 for more information.
