Electronic Portfolios-A few Things To Remember |
Download a Checklist
Reminders and Things to Think About
Step 1-Determine where you will keep your student files
• Create a folder with the homeroom teacher’s name in group shared f
• Create a folder with each student’s name in their homeroom teacher’s folder
• Place any photos from throughout the year in the teacher folder or create a “photo folder” for easy access.
Step II- Create a template for students to edit
• Save this template to the Group Shared f folder
• Make a “back-up” copy and save in a safe place
• Be sure to include a title card, information cards, and assessment
Step III-Decide what type of multi-media you would like to include
• Make sure you have access to it on your campus
• Do you need to check out the camera, scanner, camcorder, etc…?
• Do you need training on any multi-media equipment?
• Do you need PowerPoint training or help?
Step IV-Decide what content will be posted on student pages
• Will they link to documents they have created?
• Will they copy and paste text?
• Do you have any photos to insert?
• Will you take digital camera photos of any work?
o Writing samples, artwork, etc…
• Will you record their voices introducing a page or reading a story?
• Will you include any theater arts clips taken with a digital camcorder?
Step V-Will you or the students take photos/scan student samples?
• If the students are scanning/taking photos, when will they be trained?
• You may have 2-4 students become “experts” to help others
• Consider making name labels to place on/under student samples when taking photos/scanning to identify each student’s work easily when inserting the photos
Day 1:
I. Model for students how to access the group shared f folder
II. Students will open the designated template you created
III. Show students how to save the template under a different name such as their first_last name in the folder you set up for them.
IV. Have students edit their “Title Slide” and any other information they are able to fill in. (goals, ethical principles, etc…)
V. Remind students to SAVE THEIR WORK VERY OFTEN!
