The Black Diamonds dance team is a spirit organization and competitive dance team that performs at all HMS home football games for both seventh and eighth grade. The team consists of seventh and eighth grade girls. There is no tryout required in order to be a member of the team. In order to ensure a spot on the Black Diamonds for the new school year, students must attend "Diamond Shine", a week-long clinic every day after school that takes place in March. The Diamonds attend two camps in the summer, one in June, and the other in August before the new school year begins. In addition to performing at football games, the Diamonds also perform at all pep rallies, some basketball games, and they also attend competition in February. Our team focuses mainly on Pom, High Kick, Modern, Lyrical, and Jazz technique. There are officers that lead the team, which are composed of 8th graders and who are selected by an audition process that takes place in the spring. Currently we have a Captain, two Senior Lts., and four Junior Lts. Members of the Black Diamonds dance team pride themselves on respect for themselves, their directors, and their fellow teammates. They are a very structured and disciplined team, setting a postive example to others on their campus. It is their goal, as dancers, and as young ladies, to be positive role models to others. We believe in working together as a unified group to accomplish our team goals.
