Welcome to first grade. My name is Janara Bennett. I am a first grade teacher here at BHC. I am originally from Abilene Texas, where I grew up. I attended Abilene Christian University and received my degree in Education, Early Childhood Education and Personal and Family Sciences. I began teaching Kindergarten in Manor, TX, in 1984. The following year I began teaching in this wonderful school district. Believe it or not, we only had two elementary schools in the district at that time. When BHC opened its doors, I was fortunate enough to be one of the pioneer kindergarten teachers here. Block House was a great school that first year, and we have gotten better every year!
My husband and I, along with our two children, four cats and cockatiel, have lived in Block House Creek for the past 21 years. We love it here and feel so fortunate to live in such an outstanding school district.
If I should ever have free time, I enjoy reading, gardening, sewing and collecting. I collect angels, bunnies, kitties, crosses, and snowmen.
I am looking forward to a great year. It is my goal to create a safe, secure learning environment, based on mutual respect, cooperation and trust in the classroom. Please call me if I can help you in any way. Like you, I want what is best for your child.
