Welcome to the wonderful world of Agriculture Mechanics. I am Mr. Kelley your guide, teacher, and advisor. You will have many opportunities in my classes and I encourage everyone to take advantage of those opportunities. Classes that you may take are: Introduction to Agriculture Mechanics, Agriculture Metal Fabrication, General Agriculture Mechanics I & II. I also teach Specialty Agriculture Production and Wildlife & Recreation Management.
All of the classes I teach are part of a program that includes numerous extracurricular activities. To take full advantage of all the opportunities in Agriculture Mechanics students can join and participate in the FFA. The FFA is the largest youth leadership organization in the country. The FFA Mission: “FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth, and career success through agricultural education.” Once you become a member of the Cedar Park FFA you can participate in leadership and career development events that will test your leadership skills and skills that you learned in class. FFA members can also have a Supervised Agriculture Experience Program (SAE). SAE’s are an entrepreneurial program that could earn money for college either directly or through various scholarship programs. SAE’s are typically thought of as raising an animal to exhibit at county fairs but here at Cedar Park High School there are a number of students who build metal and wood projects, design floral arrangements, mow lawns, and some even work for local veterinarians and pet stores as their SAE. SAE’s integrate the Agricultural Curriculum and the FFA together into a powerful leadership and scholarship program.
You can also get a jump start on your college career because if you make a “B” or better in Agriculture Metal Fabrication, General Agriculture Mechanics I & II you can receive college credit through the Austin Community College Welding Department.
On the following pages you will find the syllabi for each of the courses listed above as well as other documents that are relevant to the wonderful world of Agriculture Mechanics.
