Introduction to Agriculture Mechanics Syllabus
This course introduces the student to the world of Agriculture Mechanics. This course emphasizes shop, home, and farm safety. Basic building and construction skills will be utilized. Topics covered will include: hand and power tool safety, hand and power tool identification, proper use of measuring devices, electricity, plumbing, cold metal working skills, oxygen-acetylene safety, welding safety. This course is a pre-requisite for all other Agriculture Mechanics Courses. (Fall Semester 10th-12th grade)
General Agriculture Mechanics Syllabus
This is a second year class that immerses the student in the welding industry. Students plan, acquire materials and build metal projects. Students have the opportunity to participate in several agriculture mechanics project shows. For more information about General Agriculture Mechanics download the syllabus. Specialty Agriculture Syllabus
This course is an overview of the small animal industry, including the pet and exotic animal industry. Topics include species, breeds, animal health, reproduction, genetics, facilities, equipment, and marketing. (Fall semester 10th-12th grade)
Wildlife and Recreation Management Syllabus
This course prepares the student for a possible career in environmental and natural resource systems. To prepare students for possible careers the students need to attain academic skills and knowledge related to environmental and natural resources and the workplace, and to develop knowledge and skills regarding career opportunities, entry requirements, and industry expectations. To prepare for success, students need to have opportunities to learn, reinforce, apply, and transfer their knowledge and skills and technologies in a variety of settings. The mandatory hunter education program sponsored by the Texas Parks and Wildlife will be presented. (Spring semester 9th grade)
Agriculture Metal Fabrication Syllabus
This course prepares students for careers in mechanized agricultural systems. The students will acquire knowledge and skills related to mechanized agricultural systems and the workplace, and develop knowledge and skills regarding career opportunities, entry requirements, and industry expectations. The students will have the opportunity to learn, reinforce, apply, and transfer their knowledge and skills and technologies in a variety of settings. This course is the first course in Agriculture Mechanics that can lead to college credit in welding through Austin Community College. (Spring Semester 10th-12th grade)
Personal Skills Development in Agriculture
This course is designed to prepare students for careers in leadership development systems. Students will learn employability skills of a successful worker and will develop knowledge and skills regarding agriculture career opportunities, entry requirements, and industry expectations. To prepare students for success, students will have opportunities to learn, reinforce, apply, and transfer their knowledge, skills, and technologies in a variety of methods.
