MATERIALS: 2 pieces 16gauge x 1 1/2” x 6” mild steel plate
PROCEDURE:
1. Cut plate to size using a Beverly sheer or aviation snips.
2. Metal must be clean and free of impurities prior to starting project.
3. Run beads on one side of both plates as illustrated.
4. After each bead is run, allow metal to cool. This will prevent the metal from becoming too hot.
5. Inspect each bead before proceding to the next. This will allow you to correct any errors in the next bead.
6. Before welding the two pieces together tack the pieces together on each end.
7. Weld plates together.
8. Inspect beads and welds for the following criteria.
(Remember always wear proper eye protection.)

1. Uniform width and thickness
25 points maximum.
2. Smooth dense ripples
25 points maximum.
3. Complete penetration of the corner weld.

4. Beads uniform and smooth
