How many times have I heard that expression over the years? I laugh every time. When I married my husband (now 15 years ago), I never knew just how much my last name would be the topic of conversation. (Before moving to Texas, I used to tell my students that they named a city after me....I don't think I can get away with that anymore!)
I graduated from Royal High School in Simi Valley, California. After getting married, my husband and I moved to Missoula, Montana where I attended the University of Montana. I studied Music Education for 1 1/2 years before moving back to California. We made it back just in time for the Northridge Earthquake.
After the ground stopped shaking, I transferred to California Lutheran University where I graduated and went on to earn my California Teaching License.
Once again, we decided to leave California and this time we settled in Las Vegas, Nevada. I worked for the Clark County School District for 9 years. I've taught 1 year of 1st, 1 year of 3rd, and 8 years of 5th grade.
Both my children were born in Las Vegas. While our girls were still young, we decided to find a quieter place to live. We moved here in June, 2006 and absolutely love it! My first year at Whitestone was fantastic and I'm glad to be here for another!!
