    Mr. Jim Genty
School is Cool
Hello all, I have taught at LHS since 1990 with a composite science teaching certification from UT Austin. I earned a BS degree in Animal Science from Texas A&M University in 1984. After working in the private sector as a manager I made a transitioned to the teaching profession. My wife and I are natives of south Texas and, have resided in Austin since 1985. We have two boys who are working their way through public schools. I enjoy basketball, skateboarding, hunting, saltwater fishing, family camping trips, and chill'in with the family cat (Rosie) and dog (Pistol). Recently I have been involved as a skateboard activist, with some local skaters in Austin and Round Rock who, like myself, realize team sports are not for everyone. Public skate parks are a wonderful vehicle for building relationships between a variety of individuals which cuts across socioeconomic and age group "barriers". Ultimately these facilities create a stronger community wherever they are allowed to exist. Wow, that was a mouthful.... anyway skating is great fun, great exercise and something I get to do with my two boys and students from school when I'm not jamming with science on the mothership... Leander High School. Go Lions.
