My name is Karen Lohman, and I am looking forward to being your child's Kindergarten Teacher this school year. I am anxiously awaiting the start of a new learning adventure. I am also excited about getting to know all of my students and parents!
I am honored to be one of the "founding members" of River Place Elementary School! I am a very passionate person. This school year will mark my fifth year of teaching in Leander ISD. I taught 2nd Grade for 3 years and this will be my 2nd year to teach Kindergarten. I am thrilled to be teaching Kindergarten, as that is where my heart truly is! Kindergarten is a FUN, essential & critical year in the educational learning process. The foundation for and of learning is laid in Kindergarten. I am looking forward to a memorable adventure in learning with you and your child this year! Students will learn many things, including: their ABC's and the different sounds each letter makes, writing stories, and we will READ, READ, READ! In math some of the things we will learn will be: how to read numbers up to 100 and write numbers up to 20, recognition of geomatrical shapes, measurement, and problem solving skills too! In science we will learn about the weather and seasons; life cycles; rocks, soil & water; living & nonliving organisms; and the senses. In social studies we will learn about our world and the role that we play in our world, including: holidays and cultural celebrations, historical events, map skills, citizenship, and much more! In Kindergarten we will emphasize what it means to be a good friend, and why it is important to be a good friend.
We work together as a team in our classroom: teacher, students, and parents!
