After reading, discussing, and assessing our knowledge of how America rallied, fought, and earned independence from Britain, students selected a topic (a revolutionary person, place thing/event) of choice to research further. See my downloads link for the specific directions and a rubric.
We will spend some time on map skills and geography when we return from the break. Then it is "Westward Young Boys and Girls" building the western frontier unit.
The following links are credible web sources that provide decent overviews/most topics selected by students:
www.americanrevolution.com
This site offers a great overview with links to almost all key events and people.
www.sfsocialstudies.com
This is a great fact finder for all social studies topics.
www.pbs.org/ktca/liberty/chronicle.html
Good for general facts, covers major events/battles and key people
www.americanrevolution.org
A good link to some unknown “truths”, but a little difficult to read with higher vocabulary.
www.picturehistory.com
This is great for authentic primary source pictures/documents.
memory.loc.gov/ammem/index.html
A good site for primary sources/original documents.
