Dear Parents,

Welcome to the dyslexia program here at Westside Elementary! I am looking forward to sharing this new year with you and your child!

This will be my fourteenth year to teach in Leander ISD. I taught first grade at Cypress and Naumann Elementaries for twelve years and then moved to a Dyslexia Specialist position last fall. I received my Bachelors degree from Stephen F. Austin State University in Interdisciplinary Studies with a specialization in reading. I also received my Master Reading Teacher certification in 2007. I am certified to teach Kindergarten through Fifth grade and also English/Language Arts in Sixth through Eighth grades. I plan on using my skills to enable each child to become confident and successful. I am grateful for the opportunity to accompany your child in his/her journey.

I have two children; Barry is currently working on finishing his course work at Texas A&M University in College Station. He is the high school youth minister at St. Martin's Episcopal Church in Houston. Eva recently graduated from The University of Texas in Austin with a degree in Marketing. In my “off” time, I enjoy walking, hiking in Colorado, reading (of course) and cruising with my family and friends.
