Our children are our future!
About Me
Hi, I am Katie Christopher and I have been at Leander High School since 1997. Prior to that I taught English in southeastern Oklahoma. I am a crimson and cream Sooner fan.

I currently teach two business computer applications classes, BCIS I and BCIS II. Either class is a technology class and successful completion will give the student his/her technology credit for graduation. Both classes are 90 minute lab classes and all makeup work must be completed in a business lab. Over the years, I have observed that students who fail my classes do so for one of three reasons: choosing not to work during class time, attendance issues, and not utilizing COMPUTER LAB HOURS.
BCIS I--BUSINESS COMPUTER INFORMATION SYSTEMS I
Business Computer Information Systems I prepares students to apply technology skills to personal/workplace business situations focused on word processing, spreadsheet, database, desktop publishing, presentation management, networking, operation systems, Internet access, and emerging technologies. This is the beginning lab class for most students. This class also carries an articulation agreement with ACC for college credit.
BCIS II--BUSINESS COMPUTER INFORMATION SYSTEMS II
Business Computer Information Systems II is a course designed to provide students with opportunities to develop skills to meet the changing needs of business in the areas related to software applications, focusing on software integration and business office documents, publishing systems, and emerging technologies. Course can count for one credit of Technology Applications. Students are encouraged to take the MOS certification tests at the completion of the course in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. The prerequisite is BCIS I.
MAKE UP TIME:
It is the student’s responsibility to turn in assignments within (5) days upon return to school. All assignments missed must be completed in the computer lab room. Come by to get your make-up the day you return back to school. Additional lab time is available before school from M-TH 8:00 to 8:38 in my classroom and after school TU-TH from 3:45-4:30. Students using the lab at these times must sign the sign-in sheet in the lab. If assignments are not made up by the deadline date, a grade of “0" will be entered into the grade book. All make-up work due to absences of school related activities should be completed before hand or within the five day period described above. Daily lessons are of new material, and students must complete work in consecutive order. (Students must complete lessons 4 and 5 before attempting to complete lesson 6.) It is important that all students understand that prolonging make- up work missed will lead to falling further behind in class do to the fact the class continues to move forward. An assignment missed or incomplete must be made up eventually as the exercises tend to roll-over as we progress through the book. Rarely is a student going to be able to make-up all work during a class period without needing to make arrangements to come in during the available lab times. Ninety minutes missed CANNOT be made up in ten minutes!!!

I hope your student has a successful year.
