Kindergarten Curriculum
Standard One: Perception
Goal 1. The Student describes and analyzes musical sound and demonstrates musical artistry.
*Identify the difference between the sining and speaking voices
*Identify the timbre of adult voices and instruments.
* Use basic music terminology in describing musical sounds.
Standard Two: Creative Expression/
Performance
Goal 1. The student performs a varied repertoire of music.
*Sing or play classroom instruments independently or in a group.
*Sing songs from diverse cultures
and styles or play such songs on musical instruments.
*Demonstrate appropriate small and large ensemble performance techniques during formal and informal concerts.
Goal 2. The student readsand writes music notation.
*Read and write simple examples of music notation
*Identify music symbols and items referring to dynamics and tempo
Standard Three: Historical/Cultural Heritage
Goal 1. The student relates music to history, society, and cultures.
*Sing songs and playmusical games from diverse cultures
*Identify simple relationships between music and other subjects.
Standard Four: Response/Evaluation
Goal 1. The student Respionds to and evaluates music and musical performances.
*Identify steady beat in musical performances.
*Identify higher/lower, louder/softer, faster/slower, and same/different in musical performances.
*Begin to practice appropriate audience behavior during live performances.

First Grade Curriculum
Standard One : Perception
Goal 1. The student describes and analyzes musical sound and demonstrates musical artistry.
*Identify voices and selected instruments from various musical families.
*Use basic music terminology in describing musical sounds.
*Identify repetition and contrast in music examples.
Standard Two: Creative Expression/Performance
Goal 1. The student performs a varied repertoire of music.
* Sing or play classroom. instruments independently or in a group.
*Sing songs from diverse cultures and styles or play such songs on musical instruments.
*Demonstrate appropriate small and large ensemble performance techniques during formal and informal concerts.
Goal 2. The student reads and writes music notation.
*Read and writes simple examples of music notation.
*Read and write music that incorporates basic rhythmic patterns in simple meters.
*Identify music symbols and items referring to dynamics and tempo.

Fifth Grade Curriculum

*Read standard notation and use standard symbols to rotate meter, rhythm, and pitch in single patterns, manuscript, or computer-generated.
* Read and write music that incorporates rhythmic patterns in various meters.
*Identify music symbols and terms referring to dynamics, tempo, and articulation, and interpret them appropriately when performing.
Goal 3. The student creates and arranges music within specific guidelines.
*Create rhythmic and melodic phrases.
*Create/arrange simple accompaniments.
