The purpose of Leander I.S.D, Kindergarten throught fifth grade music is to foster artistic growth, creative growth, self-expression, individual responsibility, explore our hertiage and world cultures, develop musicianship and promote music appreciation.
Elementary Music Vision
Our vision is that each L.I.S.D. student completes the fifth grade with the ability to read, perform and appreciate music of other cultures as well as their own.
Music Program Goals
By the end of the student's fifth grade year, they will:
*use listening skills to enhance learning
*demonstrate confidence, self-directedness and resonsibility through the experienc of participating in a music ensemble
*develop proper vocal technique for singing
*critically assess musical performances
*demonstrate understanding of the basic elements of music
*participate in a variety of music experiences
*demonstrate proper instrumental skills on a variety of classroom instruments
*use reading skills in order to perform vocally or instrumentally
*use movement to demonstrate music concepts
*Value the historical aspect of music and its impact on the present day
*explore composers of past and present times
*Utilize music as a tool for personal growth and development
