Welcome to Second Grade. My name is Loretta Zaharias, the Wise and Wonderful :). This is an exciting and special time in the life of your second grader...they will improve their reading, writing, and math skills. It is a fun and challenging year as they become more independent learners.
Allow me to tell you a little about myself. I grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I graduated from UWM with a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education. I went back to the university for extra certification in Nursery and Kindergarten, so I can teach any grade from pre-school to 8th grade.(so Middle school may be an option someday LOL). I also earned 30 hours of graduate credit in Education at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
My husband was in the military which meant we were able to be stationed overseas in Germany besides good ol' Fort Sill, OK and Fort Hood, TX. I have traveled throughout Europe and even managed a trip to Tunisia in Northern Africa once.
I have been teaching in the Leander school district since 1986 so you see, I go back to the last century! Always glad to talk with parents about any concerns or questions that they may have. Just feel free to call the school and we can chat over the phone or have a conference.
