1. Color system: Each person has a clothespin with his or her name on it. Each day every person begins on the color green. Throughout the day, each person has the opportunity to move his or her color up or down. They can move their color up to purple or blue. They can move their color down to yellow and red. Different rewards and consequences exist for each color. The child’s color can move up and down throughout the day. At the end of each day, I will record the color on the monthly calendar. At the end of the week, your child will receive a sticker and stamp if they change their color no more than one time during the week. They will receive a stamp if they change their color no more than two times.
2. Caught you being good: These are small slips of paper I hand out throughout the day. The students write their initials on the back and deposit them into a specific can. On Monday morning, I do the “Caught You Being Good drawings. I determine the amount I draw out by how many slips are in the can. The winners choose from the prize box.
3. Aggie: During the first semester, I let “Aggie” the dog sit on the desk of the student who did a great job the day before. During the second semester, the students are responsible for passing “Aggie” to students they feel do a great job.
4. Marble Jar: Together, the class is able to earn a reward by filling the marble jar. If the class receives a compliment from a teacher or staff they will receive two marbles. In unruly times, I can withdraw marbles until satisfactory conditions return. When the marble jar is full, the class will vote on what reward they would like to receive.
5. Table Awards: This is a tally point system. The students can earn one tally for their table by transitioning to or from the floor quietly. The quietest table earns two tally marks. At the end of the week, the table with the most tallies earns a new pencil.
6. Homework: Each individual will record returned homework on a chart using a sticker. At the end of the nine weeks, the students who have missed none or just one homework assignment will earn the opportunity to eat in the classroom during lunch.
7. Superstar: Each week, I will choose a different member of our class to honor. I select this child based on their behavior. Each child will have a chance to be the superstar. Each day, the superstar will read in the igloo (small tent) during Daily Five. On Wednesday, the child can bring in their favorite book for me to read. Also, the superstar brings show and tell to share on Friday, and I will read his or her “Read All About Me” poster.
