Hello! I'm Morrie Greene and I teach 3rd grade at Cypress Elementary School. I have been teaching since 1990 and I love children (I have four children myself, aged from 28 to 21). My favorite subjects to teach are reading, writing, especially writing. Last year 5 of my writing students were published in the Austin International Poetry Festival's Anthology for students. WOW! What an honor! It's going to be another great year!
About Our Goals...
My goal for your children, my students, is to prepare them for their future, to teach them how to think and solve problems, to help them discover their gifts and talents, to encourage them to care for others and our world, and to foster the desire to be the best that they can be! Is that possible? Of course, it is. We do it every day with fun activities, thinking activities, and lively discussion. However, we do have to work hard. Students are encouraged to think and discover for themselves and come to their own conclusions.
About responsibility...
Third grade is a crucial time for students. It is a growing up time requiring the development of responsibility and independence. For some students, this is very hard, but very necessary. The first step is for YOU to ask to see their planner daily and ask what homework they have. This will start them in the right direction. Iniital that you saw it. Since we write all our assignments in it, this should keep you up to date on what is due and when. With your help, I know we will be successful.
About Working Together...
An old African proverb says it takes a village to raise a child. I believe that is true. It's a partnership between you, your child and me. If you ever have questions or need to discuss something about your child, feel free to call me. 434-7200 ext 33484. Or email me at morrie.greene@leanderisd.org. Together we can accomplish miracles. |
