Please find a list of curriculums offered free of charge by the
Texas Young Lawyers Association. This curriculum will also provide
assistance with implementation of any of these programs in your class, if possible. Please feel free to contact tyla@texasbar.com if you would like a local lawyer to help implement any of the following projects in your class.
America's Founding Fathers
America's Founding Fathers features biographies of delegates at the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia in May 1787. The 55 delegates had been sent by the 13 states to revise the Articles of Confederation, but they ended up drafting an entirely new plan of government. They ranged in age from 26-year-old Jonathan Dayton to 81-year-old Benjamin Franklin, who had to be carried to sessions in a sedan chair. (National Archives and Records Administration)

Region 13 Workshop updates
TEACHING AMERICAN HISTORY GRANT
This is the last year for the Region XIII Teaching American History
project, The Relevant Constitution. High school U.S. History teachers
across Region XIII are invited to be a part of the project, which
benefits both the district and the teacher. The project offers
professional development opportunities with some of the nation's top
historians and scholars, money (registration, sub costs, stipend,
materials, and travel), instructional support for implementation of best
practices in the classroom, and a way to be part of a statistical study
to see what works in social studies classrooms. Please encourage at
least one U.S. History teacher from your district to take advantage of
this one-time opportunity to be a part of the project. We need teachers
for the Participant group and for the Control group, so the level of
participation can vary. Contact Carol Curtiss
(carol.curtiss@esc13.txced.net 512-919-5288) or Jodi Kuhn
(jodi.kuhn@esc13.txed.net 512-919-5425) for information. Apply online
