Knight of the Week
Each week we will celebrate one of our students and the will be the "knight of the week" for that week. Please refer to the class calendar on the website schedule to see when it is your child's turn!
Knight of the week events
Monday- Bulletin Board Presentation
• Your child will be featured on our “Titan of the Week” bulletin board inside our classroom. Each student will present an “All About Me” poster on their scheduled week. This poster will be sent home the Friday before to be completed over the weekend and brought back on Monday. All items will be coming back home when your child’s week is over. Your child will present their poster board to the class.
Tuesday- Positive Praises
• The students will all think of positive things they like about your child and this will be made into a class book to come home with your child.
Wednesday- Presentation of Estimation Jar
• Your child will come home with a plastic jar on Tuesday. This is our estimation jar. Have your child fill the jar with anything they want and help them count out the items. Some ideas of what to put in the jar are; leaves, buttons, beans, rocks, jelly beans, etc… Be creative! Please do not put things that would stain or make the jar too dirty. The students will estimate how much they think is in the jar.

Thursday- Show and Tell
• Your child will come home with a bag on Wednesday. Have your child put whatever they would like to show the class in their bag. It can be something from a trip they took or just something that is special to them.
Friday- Mystery Reader
• Last, but most important, “reading” is a very important aspect of first grade. I would like to invite each of you to come and read one of your favorite short picture/story books to our class. If Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, etc. are in town or live in the area, I welcome them to come and read to us also. Make it a “mystery” to your child as to who is coming to read. The allotted time in our schedule to come and read is at 2:15. If this time does not work for you please contact me and we can make other arrangements.
