(Hint: I have nothing to do with transportation or buses!)
My primary job is to help students make the transition from middle school to high school and then from high school into whatever comes next for them - college or career. Programs under my responsibility include:
* COOL Week for seniors
* Career Passports
* Texas Scholars
* A.C.E. classes for freshmen
* Student-Led Parent Conferences for freshmen
* ACC Early College Start program - for juniors and seniors
* ACC College Connections – for seniors
* Tech-prep Articulated Courses - "Credit-in-Escrow" through ACC for selected Career & Technical Education classes
* All Career & Technical Education programs
I have been at Cedar Park High School since 2001. Before becoming Transition Coordinator in January of 2003, I taught Marketing, Advertising, Early Childhood Professions, and other Family & Consumer Sciences classes.
Prior to coming to Cedar Park, I taught for 23 years at J. Frank Dobie High School in Pasadena, Texas, south of Houston. I taught Marketing Education and Home Economics Education Cooperative Education. I also served as Career & Technology Education Department Chairperson at Dobie and was on the Fashion Merchandising, Child Development, and Continuing Education Advisory Committees for San Jacinto College.
I am a strong proponent of Career and Technical Education; I am an advocate for students and an assistant to parents interested in guiding their students down the correct career preparation path.
College is an expensive place to figure out what you want to be when you grow up! It is my job to make sure our students leave CPHS armed with all the knowledge possible to help them with that decision.
