In Leander ISD, students who complete the Recommended or the Distinguished Award Program of graduation are further rewarded with a certificate and a medal signifying them as Texas Scholars. This program rewards students for taking a more rigorous course of study. It is more about taking challenging coursework than it is about the grades students make in those courses.

GOLD Texas Scholars have completed either the Recommended or DAP and have earned at least one career passport. They receive a gold medallion on a red, white, and blue ribbon to wear over their gown at graduation.

SILVER Texas Scholars are those graduating seniors who completed the Recommended or DAP but no Career Passport. Their medallion award is silver.

The Texas Scholars program is one more way Leander ISD students are enabled to compete in a global economy. It shows that our students are willing to put forth the extra effort on their high school education. LISD Texas Scholar graduates are not complacent about the educational opportunities afforded them during high school.
