This year the RBMS Band will be implementing a new technology application called Smartmusic. Smartmusic is an "interactive computer based practice system" that makes practicing more fun.

Smartmusic will be used in all of the band classes to ensure that every child in the RBMS Band has a chance to use the technology regardless of access to internet at home.

The Smartmusic Library contains over 30,000 titles, and more are being added every day. These pieces range from exercises in your child's beginning band book to Solo & Ensemble pieces, as well as music for UIL competition. Through features included in Smartmusic your child will be able to practice with a computer accompaniment, record themselves playing (into an MP3 file), access a tuner, metronome, transpose music into varying keys, create practice loops for difficult passages, access interactive fingering charts for their instrument, learn to improv, play by ear, and even submit assignments for band over the internet from home or at school.
