    Mr. Russell Montgomery

I graduated in May 2003 from the University of Texas at Austin. I received my Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education and I minored in History. I did my student internship at Naumann Elementary and loved the school so much that I wanted to stay. I was hired in July of 2003. I worked there for five years. This year I had the opportunity to join the new school, Parkside Elementary.
I have lived in the area all my life and know that this is the place for me to be. Texas is a state that has everything that the rest of the country has to offer. And where better to be than in the heart of it. Austin itself has so much to offer. The "Live Music Capital of the World" and Barton Springs are just a few thing that I enjoy to do in this city. Lake Travis is where I spend most of my summers. The city life to the country life in less than an hour is where I will always call home.
My family is a very important part of my life. I am married to my wonderful wife Jennifer, who is also a teacher at Parkside. We have a six year old named Ethan who will be coming to Parkside too. He will be in 1st grade. We also have new baby named Brendan that was born at the end of school last year. I have really enjoyed spending the summer with them all. I have a close relationship with my parents and my sister. I have a nephew who is in fifth grade and was my inspiration to become a teacher and a beautiful niece that is also going into 1st grade this year.
With so little spare time, I manage to get in a few hobbies here and there. I enjoy going to the lake, watching movies, listening to music. My favorite thing to do is to travel. I have been from Maine to California and through the Caribbean. My dream vacation would be a trip to Italy and Greece. I have learned so much about the history of these countries that it would make them come alive to actually visit.
With all the great things that surround this area and all the traveling that this world has to offer, one thing brings me back. The joy of teaching is the greatest feeling to have. If you have ever seen the look on a child's face when they understand something for the first time and know that you were the one that helped them achieve that new knowledge, then you know why I became a teacher.
