Early College Start is a program that allows high school students take college courses at ACC for FREE! Not only can students get a head start on earning college credit, but many of the courses count for high school credit as well (or what we refer to as dual credit).

There are several steps that each student must complete in order to become eligible to register for ACC classes. Steps 1-7 on the attached checklist must be completed prior to registration!

Spring semester:
Advisors will be on campus November 6th
Registration begins on November 17th

If you are a returning ACC Early College Start student, you'll need an ECS Tuition Voucher and a meeting with an ACC advisor. Come by VRHS to pick up the ECS Tuition Voucher from Mrs. Spradling.

This attached list outlines the classes that will count for dual credit, or high school AND college credit.

The first two columns are the ACC numbers and names; the last two columns are the high school course equivalents and the number of high school credits you can earn with each college course.

Not all classes will count towards dual credit, but 42 courses are considered core credits and are transferable to any Texas public university.

The complete list of those courses (some of which are also dual credit courses) can be found on the attached list.

All students new to ACC must complete a new student orientation. The orientation for ECS students can be completed online at www.austincc.edu/acc101

Be sure to print out the checklist and keep it as verification of the completed orientation--Mrs. Spradling and the ACC advisors will need to see it.

ACC has a helpful website that provides online information about course offerings, schedules, and locations. This website is especially important because it shows "synonym" numbers for each course, which you'll need to have handy when it comes time to register. Once you've completed steps 1-7 of the ECS checklist, you're ready to register! Telephone registration is said to be the easiest. Download the instructions which will help ensure quick and efficient registration.
