Journey to the Moon!    
INTRODUCTION
Hi fifth grade! Welcome to The Moon Webquest. You will be using the world wide web and your science book to find the information you need to learn about the moon and complete some activities.
TASK
You will use the internet and your science book to do the following:
1. Read and Record what the moon is made of.
2. Complete a picture puzzle about the moon.
3. Learn about the 8 moon phases.
4. Play games about the moon's phases.
5. Record the 8 phases of the moon.
6. Complete a Venn diagram comparing the Earth's surface to the moon's surface.
PROCESS
1. Click on the following website to read about the physical features of the moon. Feel free to browse the links to craters, map and inside the moon. Use the travel guide to record your answers.

2. Click on the above link and scroll down towards the bottom. Click on interactive puzzle on the moon and complete. Do this as many times as it takes for you to get all of the answers correct.

3. Put on your headphones and click on this link to learn about the moon's phases and an old legend.

5. Use this website and your science book (pages D6-D7) to record the 8 phases of the moon. Be sure to scroll down to see the GRADING RUBRIC and take a look at the examples on the white board for ideas.

6. Use this link to learn about the physical features of the Earth. Then, read pages in the Science book. Use these resources to help you make a Venn diagram comparing the surface of the Earth to the surface of the moon.

EVALUATION
Check over your work using the following and turn it in at the end of the webquest.

1. Turn in your travel guide about the physical features of the moon.

2. Turn in your Phases of the Moon diagram. You will be graded on the following:

title of the whole diagram
titles of each moon phase
accurate diagrams of each phase
phases are in numbered order
show where the sun is in each phase
color
neatness
jazzing it up/creativity

3. Turn in your Venn Diagram. You will need to have:
complete sentences
at least 5 items in each category
labels
CONCLUSION
Congratulations! You have just completed The Moon webquest.

You have learned about the physical features of the moon and Earth's surfaces, you have compared these features, you have learned about the moon's 8 phases and you had fun while doing it!

For extra points, please write a plus/delta on this activity. The plus lists the things you liked about the activity and the delta lists some things you would like to see changed. Thank you!
