A. Apple menu
B. Application menu (tells you what Application you are in)
C. Standard Finder or application menus
The far left menu, the Apple menu, provides commands for changing system and Dock preferences, for restarting, shutting down, or setting your computer to sleep, and other functions. It remains the same within every application.
The menu in bold (to the right of the Apple menu) is the application menu, which shows the name of the active application.
If the Finder is active, this menu provides commands for setting Finder preferences which determine how windows look and act, as well as for emptying the Trash and other commands.
To the right of the application menu, you’ll see the active application’s menus, such as File, Edit, Format, and Help.
At the far right of the menu bar, you may see several status icons, similar to the small icons at the bottom right of the Windows screen. You can use these icons to change settings such as the date and time or speaker volume. When you click these icons, menus or controls appear for changing settings.
