Digital Natives vs Digital Immigrants

"Kids today use digital technology transparently, without thinking about it, without marveling at it, without wondering about how it works. It's their native language - language in which they are digitally fluent. They are digital natives. We are DSL - Digital as a Second Language."

How do we keep up with and address the needs of the digital native students we teach without letting our non-digital accent cloud the picture? In this age of standards, accountability & high stakes testing, we deal with having to provide kids with meaningful, rapidfire, random access, and hyperlinked content. Kids are fundamentally different in how they access, absorb, interpret and communicate in the modern world.

In this workshop we hope to show you some ways to help you reach out to your students and meet them in their digital world.
