TWO SEPERATE SESSIONS OF SAME RANGER POWER CAMP WILL BE OFFERED AT TWO SEPERATE TIMES. 7:30AM-9:30AM AND 5:30PM-7:30PM
THIS YEAR WE WILL ALSO OFFER A JUNIOR HIGH CAMP FROM 3:30-5:30 AND AN ADVANCED EXPLOSIVE LIFT CAMP 9:30-11:30 FOR JUNIORS AND SENIORS. (SEE COACH CORLEY)

ALL THESE CAMPS WILL START JUNE 5TH AND END JULY 20TH 2006. THE WEEK OF THE 4TH OF JULY THERE WILL BE NO CAMP.

IMPORTANT FOR RETURNING ATHLETES |

 |
THERE ARE MANY BENEFITS TO STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING DURING THE SUMMER. THIS IS THE ONE TIME DURING THE YEAR ALL OF OUR ATHLETES CAN PARTICIPATE IN OFFSEASON STYLE WORKOUTS TOGETHER. BECAUSE OF THE LIMITED TIME DURING THE ATHLETIC PERIOD WE ARE NOT ABLE TO STRESS CORE AND STABILITY EXERCISES EVERYDAY LIKE WE CAN DURING CAMP. THE RETURNING ATHLETES THAT HAVE A YEAR OR MORE OF LIFTING CAN ALSO LEARN ADVANCED LIFTS THAT PROMOTE MORE EXPLOSIVE MOVEMENTS. WE CAN ALSO SPEND TIME WITH "PREHAB" EXERCISES THAT HELP PREVENT INJURIES DURING THE SEASON. |

INCOMING FRESHMAN ATHLETES |

PROBABLY ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT ASPECTS OF THE CAMP IS OUR OPPORTUNITY TO WORK WITH THE YOUNG INCOMING PROSPECTIVE ATHLETES. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT THIS AGE GROUP GETS A CHANCE TO WORK TOGETHER AND LEARN HOW TO LIFT PROPERLY AND SAFELY. THEY WILL ALSO HAVE THE ADVANTAGE OF KNOWING THE LIFTS, EXPECTATIONS, DISCIPLINE, KNOWLEDGE OF THE FACILITIES, AND FAMILIARALITY WITH THE COACHES. NOT TO MENTION THE FACT THAT THEY WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO WATCH AND WORK WITH THE OLDER ATHLETES. THIS WILL GIVE THEM A CHANCE TO SEE WHAT IT IS GOING TO TAKE TO SOMEDAY FILL THE SHOES OF SOME OF OUT MOST DEDICATED STUDENT ATHLETES. |

WHAT IS POWER CAMP |
|
|
 |
OUR POWER CAMP IS NOT JUST A WEIGHT LIFTING CAMP. IT IS A STRENGTH AND CONDITION CAMP THAT CONSISTS OF PROMOTING SPEED, EXLOSIVENESS, CONDITONING, STABITLITY, COORDINATION, FLEXABILITY, AND CORE STRENGTH. |

WHAT DOES THE TWO HOURS A DAY INCLUDE? |
|
|
 |
WE WILL CONCENTRATE ON 3 MAIN PHASES.
THE FIRST IS CORE STRENGTH AND STABILITY. THIS PHASE WILL USE THE ATHLETES OWN BODY WEIGHT DURING A 20-30 MINUTE SERIES OF DRILLS. VARIOUS MUSCLE GROUPS WILL BE USED TO PROMOTE ATHLETIC COORDINATION. BECAUSE THE FIRST STEP IN BECOMING A GOOD ATHLETE IS TO BE ABLE TO CONTROL ONES OWN BODY WEIGHT. WE WILL WORK THE ENTIRE SHOULDER REGION, ABS, OBLIQUES, HIPS, QUADS, AND BACK. DURING THIS ROUTINE THEY WILL ALSO WORK VARIOUS STABILIZER MUSCLES WHICH WILL PROMOTE BETTER COORDINATION.
THE SECOND PART IS STRENGTH TRAINING. FOR THE NEW STUDENTS WE WILL TEACH THEM THE PROPER LIFTING TECHNIQUES WHICH WILL PROMOTE STRENGTH AND DECREASE ANY RISK OF INJURY. MAIN LIFTS INCLUDE: SQUAT, BENCH, INCLINE, FRONTAL SQUAT, SHOULDER PRESS, AND POWER CLEANS. THEY WILL ALSO HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN VARIOUS AUX. LIFTS.
PART 3 OF THE CAMP IS THE SPEED AND CONDITIONING. THIS PART OF THE CAMP WILL INVOLVE MANY DIFFERENT ASPECTS OF MOVEMENT AND CONDITIONING. THE DRILL WORK WILL PROMOTE INCREASES IN SPEED, AGILITY, QUICKNESS, REACTION TIME, AND OF COURSE OVER ALL CONDITIONING. |

WHAT IF THE ATHLETE IS GOING TO BE GONE DURING PORTIONS OF THE CAMP |
|
|
 |
ALMOST EVERY STUDENT IS GOING TO HAVE THINGS GOING ON DURING THE SUMMER. AT VRHS WE UNDERSTAND THE IMPORTANCE OF FAMILY AND SPENDING TIME TOGETHER DURING THE SUMMER. THERE WILL BE A WEEK OFF DURING THE 4TH OF JULY, A WEEK OFF AFTER SCHOOL, AND THE CAMPS ENDS JULY 20TH.
THE CAMPS ARE FAIRLY PRICED. MOST WEEK LONG CAMPS IN THE AREA ARE IN UPWARDS OF 200 DOLLARS OR MORE. THIS CAMP IS 6 WEEKS LONG. ITS LIKE PAYING FOR ONE WEEK AND GETTING 5 WEEKS FREE. IF THE CONCERN IS FALLING BEHIND WE WILL GIVE THE ATHLETE A LIST OF THE EXERCISES THEY CAN DO WHILE GONE. THERE IS NOTHING LIKE DOING A CORE WORK OUT ON THE BEACH NEXT TO THE WATER. |

WHAT IS MY STUDENT GOING TO NEED FOR CAMP. |
|
|
 |
IT IS RECOMENDED THAT THE ATHLETE BRINGS A PAIR OF FLATS AND CLEATS SO THEY CAN CHANGE BETWEEN THE WEIGHT ROOM AND THE FIELDS. WE WILL PROVIDE WATER. IF THEY WANT TO BRING THEIR OWN THEY ARE MORE THAN WELCOME TO. THE STUDENT WILL ALSO RECEIVE A CAMP T-SHIRT. |

HOW DO WE REGISTER? |

 |
YOU WILL RECEIVE A FLYER IN THE MAIL AFTER SPRING BREAK. YOU MUST THEN MAIL TO LISD ADMINISTRATION BUILDING. THE ADDRESS WILL BE ON THE FLYER. YOU DO NOT BRING IT TO THE SCHOOL. WE HIGHLY RECOMEND THAT YOU SIGN YOUR STUDENT UP AS SOON AS YOU CAN. THIS WILL HELP INSURE HIS/HER SPOT IN THE CAMP TIME YOU WANT. |
