Why do we need to keep track of volunteer hours?


Volunteer hours will be counted each month, provided the Campus Volunteer Coordinator has your volunteer application on file. A record of monthly hours served by each volunteer is tabulated by the Campus Coordinator and sent to the School Volunteer Office. Volunteers should record hours in the following areas:

1. Assisting in the classroom with Math, English, Reading, Science, Social Studies, Drama/Art, and Physical Education, activities.

2. Assisting teacher: preparing materials for teachers, typing, filing, duplicating, etc. Making instructional material, visual aids, decorating bulletin boards.

3. Assisting school secretary: clerical, typing, copying, filing, answering phone, mailouts.

4. Library/Media Center: assistance in processing books, storytelling, making tapes.

5. Classroom enrichment: finding speakers for teachers, parents sharing professional experiences, hobbies, travel, etc. Collecting resource materials.

6. School Clinic: regular assistance in school clinic, district vision and hearing screening, and health education program.

7. Chaperoning: Field trips, dances, school parties, assemblies, all Booster Club activities.

8. Cafeteria: assistance in lunchroom


Other School Activities:

1. Assisting students when pictures are taken at the schools.
2. Conducting tours at schools.
3. Registration, enrollment activities.
4. School parties: planning, baking, telephoning.
5. Any Fund-raising activities.
6. Workshops: attendance at workshops and orientation, special workshops, meetings, and individual orientation with teachers and school personnel
7. Recruitment Activities:
8. Booths
9. Speeches at coffees, PTA meeting, etc.
10. Telephoning
11. Participating on School Councils, Area Planning Councils.
